Bhairavi Balasubramanian
I am Bhairavi, a design researcher and systems thinker whose work critically examines mainstream paradigms and attempts to observe the world from a pluriversal lens. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design from India and a Master’s degree in Collaborative Design from Aalto University, Finland.
My practice is grounded in mixed-methods research, with a strong emphasis on qualitative and experiential approaches that centre emotion, lived experience, and context. I have worked across diverse domains including healthcare, forest-based economies, food futures, and transgender rights, often navigating complex social, political, and cultural systems.
I am particularly interested in noticing the unnoticed—surfacing hidden dynamics, marginalised perspectives, and everyday realities that are often overlooked in dominant narratives. Through research and visualisation, I aim to make complex information accessible and legible without stripping it of its depth, nuance, or gravity.
